We like to think that acts of kindness are also acts of love. While spreading kindness is something to practice every day, it’s Random Acts of Kindness Week, and we can certainly get on board with any excuse to be intentional about brightening someone’s day. To celebrate, we’ve compiled simple yet meaningful ways to spread kindness in Orange County to help you make a lasting impact in a way that feels natural to you.
Perform a Small Act of Kindness to Strangers
Acts of kindness can be as big or small as you want. We love these creative ideas that take varying degrees of effort!
- Make doggie goodie bags and share them at the dog park.
- Donate clothes and supplies you don’t use to a local nonprofit that accepts donations.
- Buy a stranger a coffee or pay it forward at the drive-thru.
- Donate books to local Little Free Libraries or food to Little Free Pantries
- Leave stickers and kind messages on people’s cars and mailboxes.
Make Someone Smile with an Emotional Support Pickle
We’ve seen emotional support pickles (and even some emotional support potatoes and dumpster fires) like these sold on both Amazon and Etsy, which someone can put on their desk, shelf, or bedside. They make us smile every time! To give them an extra personal touch, you could possibly even make them yourself if you’re the crafty type.

Send Someone a Charcuterie Board (and Support Local Businesses in the Process!)
Who doesn’t love a charcuterie board? Whether sending to a friend, client, local teachers, or first responders, your recipient is bound to appreciate the thoughtfulness and arrangement of the tasty meats and cheeses. Even better, there are a number of great local small businesses like OC Gourmet Gal and Graze Box who make and deliver charcuterie boards here in Orange County that would surely love your business!

Leave Inspirational Chalk Drawings for Passerbys
Have a favorite trail or walkway? Brighten the trail with chalk drawings and kind messages that encourage those passing through and make them smile.
