With 42 miles of stunning coastline and dozens of unique beaches, coves, and surf spots, Orange County is home to some of Southern California’s most iconic seaside destinations. We’ve rounded up our top five must-see OC beaches that make Orange County a world-famous beach destination.
Top OC Beach #1 - Treasure Island
When you set eyes on Treasure Island Beach in Laguna Beach, you might think you were transported to Hawaii. This beach earns our top spot for its stunning views, which can be enjoyed from the cliffside or on the beach itself.
While parking is very limited, it is worth visiting. We recommend bringing a picnic basket and blanket, as there are several areas to have a nice beach picnic.
Top OC Beach #2 - Victoria Beach
The “pirate tower” at Victoria Beach is like going on a treasure hunt to find it. You’ll want to check the low tide to ensure you can access the limited beach around this fairytalesque spot. Click here to watch our YouTube video that shows how to get here.
Top OC Beach #3 - Corona del Mar
Accessed via the cute town of Corona del Mar, this half-mile-long area features dramatic cliffside views, calm swimming waters, and a small set of fire pits. Corona del Mar Beach is perfect for individuals, couples, and families.
Top Beach #4 - The Wedge
Located at the end of the Balboa Peninsula in Newport Beach, The Wedge is one of the world’s most iconic surf breaks and a must-see Orange County attraction. Famous for its towering shore-break waves—sometimes reaching 20 to 30 feet—The Wedge draws elite bodysurfers, skimboarders, and bodyboarders from around the globe who come to test their skills against its powerful, unpredictable surf.
Top Beach #5 - Balboa Beach
Located near the Wedge at the end of Newport Beach is our #5 pick, Balboa Beach. This family-friendly beach gets a top spot for its versatility. There is a pier, a playground on the beach, a big grassy field, and a fun zone. It’s a famous spot to grab a chocolate-covered frozen banana, shop, and you can also ride the ferry over to Balboa Island.
