Winter in Orange County is not just about mild temperatures and sunny skies; it’s also about enjoying some of the most exciting events and activities that the region has to offer. From marine life festivals to cultural celebrations, there’s something for everyone. Here’s a roundup of must-do events this season.

Black History Parade & Unity Festival

  • Dates: February 3, 2024
  • Location: Center Street Promenade, Anaheim

Taking place in Anaheim, this annual event put together by the Orange County Heritage Council celebrates Black history and culture. The festivities begin with a vibrant parade featuring community groups that kicks off at 10 AM, followed by a Unity Festival from 12-5 PM with educational booths, live performances, and diverse food options.

UVSA Tết Festival

  • Dates: February 9 – 11, 2024
  • Location: OC Fair Grounds & Events Center, Costa Mesa

Celebrate the Year of the Dragon! Hosted at the OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa, the UVSA Tết Festival honors the Vietnamese Lunar New Year, and this year marks the festival’s 10th anniversary! It includes a cultural village with traditional Vietnamese exhibits, performances, and various contests, reflecting the richness of Vietnamese culture.

Admission is $8 to those 2+. On Saturday, February 10 from 12 PM-1 PM, they also offer free entrance to those wearing traditional outfits and military or scout uniforms (this excludes religious outfits and costumes).

Laguna Beach Music Festival

  • Dates: February 14 – 18, 2024
  • Location: Laguna Art Museum and Laguna Playhouse, Laguna Beach

A co-presentation of Laguna Beach Live! and the Philharmonic Society of Orange County, this annual music festival is a celebration of classical and contemporary music, featuring a variety of concerts and performances. It’s a perfect blend of artistic expression and community engagement. This year features one of the world’s most esteemed violinists Anne Akiko Meyers, who will perform each day of the festival.

Dana Point Festival of Whales

  • Dates: March 1 – March 3, 2024
  • Location: Dana Point Harbor, Dana Point, CA 92629

The 53rd annual Festival of Whales celebrates the migration of the California Gray Whale. While you can enjoy great art, food, music, education, and activities every day of the weekend, each day also offers up something unique. Friday the 1st includes a Welcoming of the Whales Ceremony. Saturday the 2nd features their popular Magical Migration Parade and Whales, Tails & Ales Street Fair. Finally, the festival closes out with a concert on the water on Sunday, March 3. Entry is free!

Orange County Restaurant Week

  • Dates: March 3 – 9, 2024
  • Location: Various locations in Newport Beach, CA

OC Restaurant Week is an exciting gastronomic event across all of Orange County! During this week, a variety of restaurants across the region offer special prix-fixe menus at multiple price points, showcasing the diversity and creativity of the local culinary scene. This event provides an excellent opportunity for food enthusiasts to experience the unique flavors and culinary offerings of Orange County, from high-end dining to casual eats.
